Maia Secondary School

Maia Secondary School began as an extension to an existing primary school, designed to accommodate approximately 168 secondary-level students. The new building includes dedicated classrooms along with shared facilities such as libraries and laboratories for the entire school community. The architectural concept is centered around a courtyard layout, creating interactive spaces that support collaborative learning and foster the holistic growth of children. Once completed, the courtyard will function as a communal hub for sports, assemblies, and school interaction programs, while the inward-facing corridors are designed to double as informal seating areas during major school events and functions

Oriented to celebrate sunlight, the entire layout is carefully planned to maximize daylight penetration throughout the day. Open on three sides due to road setbacks, the structure benefits from enhanced exposure to natural light and cross-ventilation. Each room is strategically positioned to receive ample natural ventilation and illumination, ensuring thermal comfort and reducing reliance on artificial lighting and mechanical cooling. The result is a residence that is not only visually striking but also environmentally responsive and functionally efficient.
